site.btaHaskovo Prosecution Office Charges Turkish National with Possession of Unreported Currency

The district prosecution service in Haskovo has brought charges against Turkish national K. Y., 24, for not reporting EUR 100,000 in his possession to the customs at the Kapitan Andreevo border control checkpoint on September 30, the Plovdiv Appellate Prosecution Office said Wednesday. That is a crime under Art. 251 (2) of the Penal Code.

On September 30, K. Y. was driving a freight vehicle with a foreign registration from Germany through Bulgaria to Turkiye. During a customs check at Kapitan Andreevo, officials found EUR 100,000 (equal to BGN 195,583) hidden in the vehicle.

The investigation within the pre-trial proceedings continue under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecution Office.
