The Technical University of Varna (TUV) and the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) have signed a memorandum of cooperation at the Bulgarian Consulate General in Munich, the Bulgarian university said on Wednesday. The document was signed by TUV General Assembly Chair Prof Rozalina Dimova and DIT Vice President Prof Martina Heigl-Murauer. Former Bulgarian Ambassador to Germany Dr Meglena Plugchieva was a special guest at the ceremony.

The document stipulates that the two higher educational institutions will promote direct contacts with each other, as well as implement joint educational programmes and research activities. The memorandum will also stimulate educational and research cooperation between teams of both universities, including between students, teachers, departments and research institutes. Emphasis is also placed on the exchange of professors for lectures, discussions and research.

The adoption of the document is under the patronage of Stefan Yonkov, Bulgarian Consul General in Munich, who was awarded certificates of appreciation by both educational institutions for his contribution to the conclusion of the new partnership. Yonkov expressed confidence that cooperation in the field of higher education will have a direct effect on encouraging activities of German investors in Bulgaria, as well as create a new competitive advantage for Bulgaria in attracting new Bavarian and German investors by providing a mixed educational model.
