site.btaNew Hotspot Breaks Out in Fire at Bulgaria's Border with Greece
A new hotspot broke out on Monday in the fire in Slavyanka Mountain on Bulgaria's border with Greece, and the situation there remains complicated, BTA learnt from Director of the State Forestry Farm in Katuntsi Plamen Poyukov.
The hotspot is about a kilometre from the place where the fire was contained on Monday, Poyukov specified.
Personnel and equipment are working in the hotspot, and a large bulldozer is digging an additional clearing. This means that another 120 hectares will be cut off so as to keep the fire within that area, the director said.
A total of 44 Land Forces service members are involved in the fire fighting in Slavyanka Mountain on Tuesday, the Defence Ministry said in a press release. Two Spanish aircraft with larger water-tank capacity are expected to join the effort later in the day.
