Customs Officers Break International Drug Trafficking Ring
Sofia, April 6 (BTA) - Customs officers at Sofia Airport broke an international drug trafficking ring, seizing 28 kg of khat from a Bulgarian who was to receive the delivery from Ethiopia worth 912,000 leva.
Khat, which is grown in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and Yemen, contains stimulants similar to amphetamines.
The operation directed by the Sofia City Prosecution Office also involved the Sofia Directorate of the Interior and police and customs officers in Plovdiv.
