Airports Step Up Security Ahead of Tourist Season

Sofia, June 1 (BTA) - The Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will put in place additional security measures at Sofia Airport ahead of the coming tourist season.

Temporary checkpoints will be deployed on the approaches to the two terminals. The checkpoints will be manned by members of the anti-terrorist unit, the border police, the gendarmerie, the national police and airport security.

People and vehicles will be checked.

Teams of border police and gendarmerie will patrol the airports in Bourgas and Varna.

The Interior Ministry advises travellers to allow extra time.
