Carpets from Four Continents Go on Display at Kotel Festival

Kotel, Eastern Bulgaria, June 25 (BTA) - The inaugural edition of the festival, "The Live Flame of Traditions", opened in the historic town of Kotel in Eastern Bulgaria.

Carpets of four continents are displayed at an exhibition, "The Road of the Carpet", within the framework of the festival.

Showcased are the carpet schools of Kotel and Chiprovtsi, said Diana Kasmetska. Using authentic models, carpet weavers from Chiprovtsi have created replicas of carpet from Europe, Asia, South and North America.

A 70-year old carpet weaver from Kotel demonstrates how carpets are made starting with wool processing, Various other workshops present traditional Bulgarian crafts.

On the second day of the festival, Saturday, there will be a concert by several dance and song folklore ensembles.

The first edition of the festival will close on Sunday when the programme features educational practice and entertainment for children.
