European Mission Begins Review of Bulgarian Prosecution Service

Sofia, June 27 (BTA) - An expert European mission which will review the Bulgarian prosecution service has arrived in Bulgaria and has opened a series of meetings, the Justice Ministry said on Monday.

The mission which includes prosecutors from the UK, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands, will carry out  interviews with representatives of various institutions and  draw up a report on the structural and functional model of the prosecutions service including its hierarchy, specialized units, transparency and caseload.

The mission was expected to begin at the end of May but was postponed by the Commission over objections to the technical aspects of the review, according to the Bulgarian Justice Ministry.
