Bulgarian PM Borissov Thanks EU's High Representative  for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Mogherini about Efforts on Conclusion of Readmission Agreement with Afghanistan

Brussels, October 5 (BTA corr. Nikolay Jeliazkov) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov Wednesday conferred with the European Union's High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini. Speaking to Bulgarian reporters in Brussels, Borissov thanked for the readmission agreement with Afghanistan.

"Following Bulgaria's slightly sharp and ultimatum-like statements about withdrawing the country's contingent from Afghanistan, the readmission agreement was signed, thanks to Mogherini's huge effort to the benefit of the entire EU," Borissov said. He offered special thanks to Mogherini's personal efforts. "When something good, fast and effective is achieved, we must say 'Thank you'. It is fashionable now for everyone to speak against the EU, but there is nothing better in the world than it," Borissov said.

Mogherini for her part said that it is a pleasure when the EU member states recognize the work of the European institutions. The EU official said this is the strength of the union, and that certain things can only be done together, proof of which is the agreement with Afghanistan. Mogherini said also that this strength of the EU serves the people and the European friends around the world.
