Government Extends Lv 23 Mln in Advance Funding for Hemus Motorway

Sofia, January 11 (BTA) - The Government has provided additional costs under the budget of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works to the amount of 22,880,400 leva for advance funding of the completion of Hemus motorway, the Council of Ministers information service said Wednesday.

The completion of Hemus motorway is one of the main priorities in the Government's programme as a key project for the development of Northern Bulgaria, the press release said. The length of the motorway is expected to be some 420 km, the part remaining to be built being about 250 km.

According to a publication in the "Capital Daily", on January 9 the Road Infrastructure Agency declared the HVP Yablanitsa company under the Obligations and Contracts Act as being awarded the public procurement for a 9.3 km section. The company offered 54.9 million leva, VAT excluded. The same source says participants in the company are associated with Movement for Rights and Freedoms MP Delyan Peevski.
