Bulgaria's Total Exports Up 1.5 Per Cent in January - November 2016,Year on Year

Sofia, January 12 (BTA) - In the January - November 2016 period, the value of all goods exported from Bulgaria amounted to 42,128.9 million leva, increasing by 1.5 per cent from the comparable period of 2015, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute. In November 2016, total exports were valued at 4,230.3 million leva, 14.6 per cent more than a in November 2015.

The value of all the goods imported in Bulgaria in the January - November 2016 period totalled 46,398.6 million leva (at CIF prices), or by 1.8 per cent less than the corresponding period of 2015. In November 2016, total imports increased by 2.9 per cent from the same month a year earlier, adding up to 4,706.8 million leva.

The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative in the January - November 2016 period and amounted to 4,269.7 million leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) in the period January - November 2016 the total foreign trade balance was also negative and added up 2,039.5 million leva. In November 2016, the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative and amounted to 476.5 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices was also negative and added up 241.8 million leva.

In the January - October 2016 period, Bulgarian exports to the EU grew by 6.2 per cent from the same period of 2015 and amounted to 25,925.6 million leva. Bulgaria's principal trading partners were Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and France which accounted for 64.2 per cent of exports to EU Member States. In October 2016, exports to the EU increased by 7.5 per cent from October 2015, adding up to 2,891.1 million leva.

Bulgarian imports from the EU in the January - October 2016 period increased by 2.0 per cent from the same period of the previous year and reached 27,779.6 million leva at CIF prices. The largest amounts of goods were imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and Poland. In October 2016, Bulgarian imports from the EU Member States grew by 5.8 per cent compared with October 2015 and amounted to 3,242.9 million leva.

Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU in the January - October 2016 period was negative and amounted to 1,854.0 million leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of freight and insurance) the trade balance was also negative and amounted to 545.0 million leva.

Bulgarian imports from third countries in the January - November 2016 period decreased by 8.4 per cent from the comparable period of 2015 and added up to 15,518.0 million leva (at CIF prices). The largest amounts of goods were imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Ukraine. In November 2016, Bulgarian imports from third countries increased by 4.9 per cent compared to November 2015 and amounted to 1,605.8 million leva.

Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in the January - November 2016 period was negative and added up to 2,095.4 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of freight and insurance) was also negative and amounted to 1,329.2 million leva. In November 2016, the foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative and added up to 156.2 million leva.
