Tourism Minister Angelkova Confers with World Travel and Tourism Council Chair Lawless

Madrid, May 12 (BTA) - Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova conferred here on Thursday with the World Travel and Tourism Council Chair Gerald Lawless. The meeting was held as part of the 105th Executive Council meeting of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the tourism ministry reported.

Angelkova focused during the meeting on the investment opportunities in Bulgaria and the perspectives for the tourism sector's development. She noted that reducing the administrative burden for businesses, with the aim of attracting investments, is among the main priorities of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's Cabinet.

On his part, Gerald Lawless encouraged Angelkova's commitments to turn Bulgaria into a year-round tourist destination, stressing that the tourism sector creates 292 million permanent jobs across the world.

The Bulgarian Minister voiced hope that the active cooperation between her Ministry and the World Travel and Tourism Council will lead to the establishment of even more successful communication with the business sector.
