Property Check of
Son of National Investigation Service Director
Finds No Irregularities
August 1 (BTA) - A check into the property of the son of Deputy Prosecutor General and National Investigation Service Director Borislav Sarafov conducted by the National Revenue Agency established no irregularities, the prosecuting magistracy said in a press release.
The check of Sarafov's son's property established no discrepancies between declared received incomes and property status. The probe covered a time period from the start of 2015 to the end of 2018.
The check was part of a probe into real estate acquisitions of high-ranking officials of the judiciary ordered by Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov under the Judicial System Act, following media reports appearing in the wake of a scandal over the purchase by members of the Boyko Borissov Cabinet and of Parliament of underpriced luxury apartments in Sofia. The scandal led to the resignations of GERB Floor Leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva, Deputy Sports Minister Vanya Koleva and Deputy Energy Minister Krassimir Purvanov.
The results of the remaining checks are yet to be announced. IG/ZH//
