Speaking to reporters before the extraordinary meeting of the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Thursday, Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev said that he expects the SJC to terminate the procedure for electing a Prosecutor General, for this is the will of the National Assembly.

The SJC Plenum whose term in office has expired will convene on Thursday to address the postponed procedure for electing a Prosecutor General. The meeting was called by Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev.

"Some politicians are talking about pausing the procedure, but that is untrue and misleading. There is a difference between pausing and terminating a procedure. When paused, it can be resumed. This procedure must be terminated. A new procedure can then be conducted by the SJC with newly elected members, in compliance with the law," Georgiev explained.
