The Bulgarian film "Don't Close Your Eyes" has won five awards at the Christian Film Festival in the USA, the crew said. It was recognized for Best Feature Film (Nikolay Egermann), Best Producer (Bogdan Darev), Best Actor (Alexander Kanev), and Best Supporting Actor - Krastyu Lafazanov and Hristo Garbov. 

"Don't Close Your Eyes" is among the finalists of the 52nd annual ICVM Crown Awards - a festival held for over half a century in the US. "This is one of the most important events for Christian independent cinema. One of the sponsors of the ICVM Crown Awards is Angel Studios, who made the film Sound of Freedom with Jim Caviezel from Mel Gibson's “The Passion of the Christ," says the Bulgarian team. "With over 400 films submitted for selection this year, our place among the finalists is recognition of the power of film and its message. The awards will be announced in February," the production adds.

The film also has five nominations at the prestigious London Independent Film Festival, where it will compete for Best Editing in a Foreign Language Film, Best Director in a Foreign Language Film, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Film and Outstanding Actor and Actress - Maria Kavardjikova and Krastyu Lafazanov. 

"Don't Close Your Eyes" is in cinemas from January 31. The cast includes Pavel Poppandov, Irena Miliankova, Vladi Vargala, Dobrin Dossev, Nikolai Urumov.
