Employer organizations Thursday hailed the decision of the government to extend the compensations to businesses for high electricity prices until the end of March 2025.

Bulgarian Industrial Association leader Dobri Mitev said the government's efforts are "duly appreciated". "We are all in this boat and we must row on," he said as he voiced hope that electricity prices will "calm down".

Vassil Todorov of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said businesses "should not sit back and relax" with the thought of the compensations. "The plans they had for improving their energy efficiency and the energy performance of their buildings and equipment should not be abandoned," he said. He underscored the importance of investment in renewable energy sources for own consumption.
