The ninth edition of the Burgas Game Jam hackathon will be held between January 24 and 26 at the Burgas Regional Library, said the organizers from BurgasLab on Thursday.

One of the event's main goals is to enable people of all ages to learn, experiment and create together. Participants will work in teams and receive a specific assignment, then have a maximum of 48 hours to come up with a game.

The theme of the Burgas hackathon in 2025 will be announced on the evening of January 24, after which participants will have the space of the library at their disposal for two days to work on their projects. If participants have an idea that requires special equipment, they can bring it to the library. No prior experience is required to participate, and there is no fee for participation.

The event is part of the Global Game Jam series, which has created nearly 80,000 games in 131 countries since its founding in 2009. The event is not competitive. The eighth edition of Burgas Game Jam in 2023 was attended by 38 participants from different towns in Burgas Region, aged between 10 and 58.
