By order of Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, the base for determining the basic monthly remuneration for the lowest position of the servicemen in the Ministry of Defence, the structures directly subordinate to the Minister of Defence and the Bulgarian Army is set at at BGN 2,296, the Defence Ministry said Thursday. The same amount is the basis for determining the basic monthly salary for the lowest post of civilian employees working under an employment relationship in the Bulgarian Army and in the structures directly subordinate to the Minister of Defence, to whom the Law on Civil Servants does not apply.

The order was issued in implementation of the Law on Defence and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria, according to which the base for the basic monthly remuneration of the military personnel for the lowest post is determined annually on the basis of the average salary for the country for the second quarter of the previous year. The Law on Defence and Social Security also stipulates that this is done by an act of the Minister of Defence in the first month of the year.

In practice, the 30% salary increase in the Bulgarian Army comes into force. It will be calculated and received already with the January salaries.
