Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh met with Morocco Ambassador to Bulgaria Zakia El Midaoui, the Tourism Ministry reported on Thursday. The two discussed the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism.

Borshosh emphasized the importance of Morocco as a promising tourist market for Bulgaria and noted that more than 1,100 Moroccan tourists visited Bulgaria between January and November 2024, a 22% increase in visits compared to the previous year. The majority of them were aged between 30 and 59.

The Minister expressed Bulgaria's readiness to host an annual bilateral meeting that would include representatives of the tourism business and stakeholders from both countries. He added: "Bulgaria and Morocco share rich traditions in tourism, which reveal huge potential for development. We believe that through joint efforts we can expand opportunities for our citizens and promote the unique cultural heritage and age-old traditions of both countries."

El Midaoui lauded Borshosh's proposal to strengthen cooperation and expressed support for the notion of updating the agreement between the two countries. She pointed out that Morocco and Bulgaria have deep historical and cultural ties, which can be further developed through tourism. She expressed her belief that business-to-business meetings, bilateral meetings and agreements can strengthen these relations.
