Sofia, May 9 (BTA) - Bulgaria markws Europe Day on Saturday. The flag of the European Union was hoisted in a ceremony at the Presidency building. President Rumen Radev, Vice President Iliana Iotova and Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Evtimov were at the ceremony.

In a video message on Europe Day, Prim Minister Boyko Borissov said that Europe is "the best place in the world to live, the mosr democratic, with the most solidarity and most rights for its peple". It was his contribution to a video in which state and government leaders congratulate European people on this special day.

In his message, Borissov urges his counterparts to do their best to make sure "we regain what we had: solidarity, strength and prosperity".

Ninety-three musicians and choir members of the Sofia Phylharmonic recorded a video with a performance of the Ode to Joy on Europe Day. Each one of them made a video of his or her part and the videos were then put together. The NDK convention centre and the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) were partners in the project.
