Sunny Beach Ranks First in British Survey on Europe's Cheapest Beach Holiday Destinations
London, April 17 (BTA) - The latest Holiday Costs Barometer survey of UK's Post Office Travel Money company reveals that the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach is the cheapest beach destination for a summer break in Europe, The Independent reported Sunday.
"The tenth annual survey is based on the total cost of ten typical holiday expenses in 20 European beach resorts, ranked from the most to the least expensive. Holiday items considered in the survey include a cup of coffee, suncream, insect repellant, and a three-course meal with a bottle of wine for dinner," the article reads.
Prices for each item were sourced from national or regional tourism offices, where possible. Costs for Bulgaria were provided by budget holiday booking company Balkan Holidays.
Following are the top five destinations in the Holiday Costs Barometer survey:
1. Sunny Beach - 41.55 British pounds
2. Algarve, Portugal - 47.04 pounds
3. Limassol, Cyprus - 51.88 pounds
4. Costa del Sol, Spain - 52.65 pounds
