Bulgaria Celebrates Europe Day

Sofia, May 9 (BTA) - The flag of the European Union was raised Monday in front of the Presidency at a solemn ceremony dedicated to Europe Day. Participants included President Rosen Plevneliev, Vice President Margarita Popova, National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva and Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova. The day was marked across the country.

Later in the day Plevneliev participated in a discussion with school students on the occasion of Europe Day.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also published his congratulations on Facebook.

European PeopleТs Party/GERB MEP Andrei Kovachev organized a competition for an essay and a photo on the subject of "Europe though my eyes", GERBТs press office said. In Turn, MEP Filiz Hyusmenova also organized a campaign focused on telling the story of the European Union.
