Social Security Agreement Signed with Morocco

Rabat/Sofia, September 21 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Labour and Social Policy Minister Zornitsa Roussinova and Morocco's Employment and Social Affairs Minister Abdesslamm Seddiki signed a Social Security Agreement between the two countries during a ceremony in Rabat, Roussinova's ministry said on Wednesday.

Emerging from the ceremony, Roussinova said the aim is to provide for mutual recognition of contributory service and make it possible for all Bulgarians working in Morocco and Moroccans working in Bulgaria to be included in the social security system of the receiving country.

Some 400 Bulgarians work in the North African country. Roussinova thanked Seddiki for his personal role in making the agreement a reality.

She said the deal is one more step forward in the development of Bulgaria's excellent relations with Morocco. She noted that bilateral cooperation has a long history, but there is still much potential to deepen Sofia's partnership with Rabat. Employment, the labour market and social security are among the areas in which the two countries can interact more vigorously, Roussinova said.

Seddiki expressed his confidence that Roussinova's visit will be followed by other initiatives.

Later in the day, the guest visited the Bulgarian school in Rabat, where she talked with compatriots.
