Six New Year-Round Air Services Open from Varna Airport in 2017
Varna, on the Black Sea, January 18 (BTA) - This year Varna Airport will open six new year-round air services, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, which operates the airports in Varna and nearby Bourgas, said in a press release Wednesday. Regular flights start in the summer to Dortmund and Munich Memmingen in Germany, Eindhoven, Larnaka, Milan Bergamo, and Tel Aviv.
In 2016 the airports in Varna and Bourgas served a record-high number of passengers: 4,529,838 people, or 22 per cent more than in 2015, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management said. The number of aircraft movements in the two airports increased by 18 per cent.
The biggest year-on-year increase in the number of passengers in 2016 at the Bourgas Airport was in the number of Russian passengers, 40 per cent, followed by passengers from Britain and Germany. The top five destinations from the Bourgas Airport were Moscow, Tel Aviv, London, Prague, and St Petersbourg.
The Varna Airport handled 1,672,017 passengers in 2016. The airport launched services to eleven new destinations in Europe.
