ABV, Movement 21 Hold Talks on Possible Coalition Agreement

Sofia, January 20 (BTA) - ABV and Movement 21 have been holding talks on signing a possible coalition agreement in connection with the upcoming general elections in this country, the two parties leaders - of ABV Konstantin Prodanov and of Movement 21 Tatyana Doncheva told a news conference. The two said that their ambition is to form an alternative left-of-centre bloc.

On Friday, the two parties' leaders had preliminary detailed discussion on the need of extending their influence through partnerships with similar formations. Prodanov said that they have covered many topics on which the two parties have common stands. He noted, however, that they do not have unsurmountable differences regarding the key priorities and their opinions are complementary in many respects.

Doncheva said that she is aware of the electoral support for her party and that the agreement may result in an increase of that support. She noted that the implementation of a radical judicial reform is a key priority. According to Doncheva, by the end of next week the two formations should have approximated their positions on lists, priorities and a common election platform.

Both leaders said they will not seek closer relations with the Bulgarian Socialist Party at this stage. Doncheva commented that BSP claims the left spectrum but is "headed by oligarchs".
