site.btaArtsyz Municipality Awards Missing Servicemen of Bulgarian Origin

The Artsyz Municipality of Bolhrad District awarded missing serviceman of Bulgarian origin Igor Stamov, the Municipality said on Friday.

Stamov was awarded a medal in recognition of his bravery in the defense of Ukraine. His wife, who is awaiting her husband's return with hope and faith, received the award. The Bessarabian Bulgarian is a native of the village of Delen', which is populated by ethnic Bulgarians.

According to local authorities, Igor Stamov's fate remains unknown, but "his name has become a symbol of indomitable faith in victory".

Artsyz Municipality includes 12 villages, six of which are inhabited by ethnic Bulgarians and were founded by Bulgarian settlers in the early 19th century. Today over 60% of the population is of Bulgarian origin.
