site.btaBulgarian Skier Albert Popov Achieves Ninth Top 10 FIS World Cup Finish in His Career
Bulgaria's highest ranked skier Albert Popov took the prestigious tenth place in the slalom at the FIS Ski World Cup in Wengen, Switzerland on Sunday. He entered the top 10 for the third time this season, following his triumph in Madonna di Campiglio and tenth position in Alta Badia, both in Italy.
The Bulgarian was 18th (56.27 seconds) after the first run, but with excellent skiing he set a fourth time (50.34) in the second and found himself in the top 10 in the final standings with a total time of 1:46.61.
This was Popov's ninth career top ten World Cup finish.
The winner of the race in Wengen was Norway's Atle Lie McGrath, who was also first after the first run. He recorded a total time of 1:45.94 minutes, topping an all-Norwegian top three. Timon Haugan and Henrik Kristoffersen were second and third respectively.
