Bulgaria at the Olympics:
Kaloyan Levterov Finishes
24th in Men's 200 m Backstroke

Tokyo, July 28 (BTA special correspondent Dimiter Velyov) - Bulgaria's Kaloyan Levterov finished 24th in the men's 200 m backstroke swimming event here on Wednesday, thus dropping out of the Tokyo Olympics. The 18-year-old swimmer ranked last in Heat 2 with 1:58.96 minutes, failing to beat his own national record of 1:56.57 minutes.

This is Levterov's first participation in the Olympics. On July 25, he finished 37th in the men's 100 m backstroke event with a time of 55.60 seconds in Heat 2.

He told BTA that he will remember his debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. "Perhaps it was a bit too much for me both mentally and physically, but that is part of a sportsman's preparation, career-building. I do not think that I should be sorry for what happened. We will simply strive to fix the mistakes and continue forward," Levterov said.
