Tensions flared up in Parliament over allegations of foul play in the construction sector. The back and forth involved deputies Kiril Petkov and Andrey Tsekov of Continue the Change (CC), the leader of Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) – New Beginning, Delyan Peevski, and GERB leader and former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
First, Kiril Petkov and Andrey Tsekov pointed fingers at Ivan Mirinski, a former executive of Vodstroy 98, and alleged that he controlled public procurement decisions in the roads and water sectors, in connection with Delyan Peevski. Petkov linked Mirinski to major projects like the South Stream pipeline and accused him of profiting from government contracts during previous administrations.
In a related incident, Tsekov revealed threats against him after speaking out about Mirinski’s influence, with a person warning him of "big problems" if he continued to expose the figure.
Former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov dismissed the claims of irregularities and Mirinski’s role, and said there was no evidence of wrongdoing during his government’s tenure.
Delyan Peevski responded sharply, dismissing the allegations as a diversion and labeling them as “desperate attempts by CC-DB to deflect attention from ongoing legal issues involving Continue the Change figures. Peevski called for a focus on governance rather than past controversies, insisting it was time to "put an end to the joking and teasing."
