site.btaBulgaria to Purchase Radio Frequency Detection System for Disabling Drones for Its Border Police

A radar system for disabling drones will be purchased for the needs of the Border Police, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov said in Vratsa. In his words, as summer approaches, migration pressure is expected to increase and tackling illegal migration is one of the priorities of the Interior Ministry.
"You know that smugglers and human trafficking groups often use drones to track the movement of patrols and this is something we need to combat. A lot of attention and a lot of resources are devoted to the Border Police, and the results are there. Bulgaria is already doing very well as a full member of Schengen," Mitov said.
The Minister attended the report on the performance of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Vratsa. He said that he is touring the country because he wants to hear what the problems are, but also to personally report what the ministry's priorities are, especially after the salary increase
Other important tasks include road safety, the fight against the grey economy, smuggling and money laundering, as well as the fight against drug trafficking. "The Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Vratsa was praised by one of the partner institutions for anti-drug enforcement. All over the country efforts are being made in this area. Especially around schools, the Interior Ministry of Interior should pay special attention, said Daniel Mitov.
He added that an international effort was also underway to restrict the purchase of cannabinoid vapes.
Among the problems of the Interior Ministry that the minister highlighted are the need to update the equipment, the introduction of digital systems to manage internal processes, as well as the need to constantly review the staff.
“What happened in Kazanlak is an absolute disgrace, a stain, such a thing cannot be allowed, police violence cannot be tolerated in any way”, Minister Mitov was adamant.
About the case in Plovdiv, the Minister said that he was looking forward to the hearing in the National Assembly, because then some facts and circumstances would become clear.
