Yosif Miladinov Makes It to Butterfly Final,
the First Bulgarian to Swim for
Olympic Medal after 33-Years Break

Tokyo, July 30 (BTA special sorrespondent Dimiter Velyov) - Yosif Miladinov made it to the 100 m butterfly final at the Tokyo Games on Friday. He is the first Bulgarian to be swimming in Olympic finals after a 33-year break. The 18-year-old stopped the clock at 51.06 sec on Friday, which was only 0.13 sec away from his personal and national record.

At the Seoul Games in 1988, Tanya Bogomilova swam in the breaststroke finals and won gold in the 100 m event, and Antoaneta Frenkeva took the silver in the same event and bronze in the 200 m breaststroke.

Miladinov told BTA he wants "to do something to be remembered for Bulgaria" but even if does not succeed, "there are many more Summer Games ahead of him" and he won't be disappointed. RI/LN/
