site.btaDrastic Drop in Job Offers in Bulgaria Registered in December 2024
In the last month of 2024, job offers dropped by 39% from November 2024 and by 23% compared to December 2023, shows a monthly analysis by JobTiger, a career website and HR company. The total number of jobs offers on the website was around 23,200 in December, down by nearly 15,000 from a month earlier and by some 7,000 from December 2023.
The HR company explains the drastic decrease in drop offers with the holidays combined with the fewer workdays at the end of the month, leading to weaker activity by employers and job-seekers alike.
Back in November 2024, job offers numbered just over 38,000, down by 8% compared to October 2024 but up by 3% compared to November 2023.
In 2025, the HR company expects an increase in job offers at the start of the year as the new working season begins. Whether the trend of fewer job offers from 2024 will continue depends on, among another factors, the state of the IT sector and the offers for working from home.
As a result of the drastic decrease in job offers in December 2024, each sector registered a double-digit drop. The greatest one was observed in Trade and Sales, by 37%, followed by Manufacturing, by 44%, and Hotel and Restaurant Services, by 36%. A year-on-year decrease was registered in all sectors.
By cities, job offers decreased by 44% in Stara Zagora, by 43% in Plovdiv, by 41% in Varna, by 40% in Burgas, by 40% in Ruse, and by 38% in Sofia.
Throughout 2024, Trade and Sales (26% of all offers in December) saw the highest number of jobs offers, followed by Manufacturing (15% in December), and Hotel and Restaurant Services (13% in December). Construction, Marketing and Advertisement, and Art were at the bottom, accounting for 5%, 3%, and 1%, respectively, of all job offers in December 2024.
By cities, the largest portion of job offers was for positions in Sofia (45%), followed by Plovdiv (10%), Varna (7%), Burgas (3%), Ruse (3%), and Stara Zagora (2%).
JobTiger's analysis shows that the number of jobs offers featuring the home office option dropped to 2,100 in December, down by 34% from November 2024 and by 17% from December 2023. Such offers accounted for 10% of all job offers on the website last month. The sectors that offered work from home were IT (55% of such job offers), Administrative and Servicing Activities (16%), Outsourcing Industry (15%), and Trade and Sales (8%).
