Broadening Cooperation with Israel Is of Great Benefit to Development of Bulgaria's Water Sector - Deputy Foreign Minister

Expanding the long-standing sectoral cooperation with Israel and the implementation of joint projects are of great benefit to the development of Bulgaria's water sector, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nevyana Miteva said here on Wednesday. She was speaking at a conference titled Beyond H2O – Israel’s Innovative Model for Water Management, organized by the Israeli Embassy in Bulgaria.

The water cooperation agreement signed with Israel at the start of 2024 is an excellent basis for continuing and intensifying close cooperation in this field, Miteva said. Bulgaria attaches high importance to its partnership with Israel, including with regard to water resources and their management, she noted. Israel is an undisputed leader in the management and use of water resources, the Deputy Minister added.

Proper management of water resources is a fundamental factor in achieving sustainability in terms of climate change and natural resource conservation. "We need to overcome our lagging behind with innovative and quick steps, in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can assist," Miteva also said.
