site.btaGERB-UDF: Cabinet Formation Is Our Key and Only Priority at This Point

"Our key and only priority at this point is the formation of a Parliament-elected cabinet," Toma Bikov MP of GERB-UDF said here on Wednesday, addressing Parliament at the beginning of its new plenary session in a declaration on behalf of his parliamentary group.

He specified that such cabinet should commit to assume clear political responsibility both with regard to legislation and with regard to decision making within the framework of the executive branch.

"The chronic political crisis can only be overcome with the efforts of all political entities," the GERB-UDF MP commented. "This does not imply that differences will disappear but implies taking the political debate to a much higher level making possible the confrontation of ideas rather than personalities and reaching agreement on the basis of our ideological views rather than of coercion, humiliation and arm twisting - means that have clearly showed in recent years that they do not work and cannot address a single problem of Bulgarian society," Bikov said.

He pointed out that in the coming weeks GERB-UDF will be exceedingly cautious in respect of initiating legislation because, as he put it, "in a parliament without a ruling majority, legislation is usually instrumentalized for the launch of an election campaign."
