The advisory council of the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) Monday discussed the parameters of programmes for financing enterprises of the military-industrial complex and financing manufacturing companies for their pre-export and export activities. Attending the meeting were representatives of national employers' organizations, leading trade unions and the National Association of Municipalities, the bank said.

BDB's strategy for the period 2024-2026 envisages support for the country's strategic sectors, including defence and the military-industrial complex, which have had difficulty accessing banking services in recent years.

The Defence Industry Support Programme aims to provide the necessary working capital for production and exports from the sector, as well as financial assistance to implement planned investments.

BDB will also offer financing to companies registered in Bulgaria that produce products or services with sales outside the country. Companies will be able to benefit from both support for working capital needed for the production of export products or services and support for their investment intentions leading to stabilization or expansion of production for export, the bank added.

The advisory council of the BDB, established in 2023, aims to exercise public control over the bank's activities, streamline the process for creating new financial products and provide a direct link between the bank and the business community.
