Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Deyan Stratev attended the opening of Agrotica, the 30th international fair for agricultural technology in Thessaloniki, his Ministry said on Friday. He was quoted as saying that Bulgaria and Greece have many agricultural traditions and characteristics in common, as well as very similar natural and climatic conditions. "We have identical problems and a desire to find solutions to them. (...) Now more than ever we must strive for sustainability while maintaining a balance between the social, economic and environmental aspects of agriculture," Stratev said.

He was shown round the exhibition which features new models of agricultural machinery, tools, equipment and accessories, consumables, planting material, fuels, innovative technologies and digital applications.

The opening was attended by Greece's Rural Development and Food Minister Lefteris Avgenakis, Cyprus's Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Minister Maria Panayiotou and Malta's Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Animal Rights Minister Anton Refalo.

Agrotica is the largest exhibition in Greece's agribusiness sector and one of the most important events in Europe. Its previous edition attracted nearly 150,000 visitors and more than 2,000 exhibitors on an area of 60,000 square metres.
