Bulgaria's annual average milk production is the lowest in the European Union, with the country producing approximately 3,621 kg per dairy cow, according to Eurostat data published on Monday.
Romania had the second lowest average production (3,367 kg per cow), while the highest was recorded in Denmark (1,017 kg per cow) and Estonia (1,028 kg per cow).
Farms in the EU produced an estimated 160 million tonnes of raw milk in 2022, showing a decline of 0.3 million tonnes year-on-year. This relative stability contrasts with steady production growth since 2010. The average annual milk production continue to rise in EU, reaching 7,653 kg per dairy cow in 2022.
