Bilateral cooperation in the economy, energy and high technology was discussed between Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud at a meeting in New York on September 20 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the President's Press Secretariat reported. Radev expressed his appreciation of Saudi Vision 2030, a large-scale programme for the country's development and modernization, and noted the capacity of Bulgarian companies to share in the process.

The two officials concurred that Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia can work together in the field of high technology, scientific research and defence. They expect that the first meeting of the Joint Economic Committee between Sofia and Riyadh will provide an occasion to identify areas and projects of shared interest.

Radev voiced Bulgaria's interest in alternative supplies of crude oil after the expiry of a derogation on importing oil from Russia.
