site.btaPM Denkov: Bulgarian Legislation Undergoing Largest Reforms since EU Entry
Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov described what has been going in this country's Parliament for three months now and what is planned for the period until the end of the year as "the largest reforms that legislation has undergone since Bulgaria's accession to the EU" in 2007.
He spoke at an event here on Wednesday at which the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce celebrated 30 years of its establishment as an official representation of the German economy in Bulgaria.
"We are talking of a profound restructuring of the judicial system intended to close all possible loopholes for serious political influence that exist at present, including an amendment to the Constitution," the PM noted. "We have secured the majority [needed for the passage of these bills], and we expect this whole process, all relevant laws, the revisions to the Constitution, to be completed by the end of December and to have in place that part related to the change of the regulatory framework."
"We have a very ambitious programme for digitization: at this point this process is being accelerated by the Ministry of Electronic Governance set up a year ago," he pointed out. "There is also a separate ambitious programme for the development of innovation and for this purpose, in order to overcome a build-up of conservatism, a Ministry of Innovation and Growth was established," Denkov added.
The Prime Minister assured his audience that Bulgaria embraces Euro-Atlantic values.
