World-famous violinist Daniel Hope will perform in Sofia under the baton of Maestro Nayden Todorov, the Sofia Philharmonic said Tuesday. The concert, which will combine classics and jazz, will take place at Bulgaria Hall on December 12.

The programme includes Kurt Weill's Song-Suite, overture to Alexander Vladigerov's Wolf and the Seven Kids musical, and Erich Korngold's suites The Prince and the Pauper and Captain Blood.

Daniel Hope has been on the world stage for over 30 years. He is loved by the audience for his artistic versatility and dedication to humanitarian causes, the Sofia Philharmonic said. He won the 2015 European Culture Prize for Music and has played with the world's leading orchestras and conductors. Hope is Music Director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the New Age Chamber Orchestra in San Francisco. He is also Artistic Director of Dresden's Frauenkirche Cathedral and President of Beethoven-Haus Bonn.

Hope was educated at London’s Highgate School and Royal Academy of Music, studying violin with Zakhar Bron, among others. He has worked with conductors including Simon Rattle, Christoph Eschenbach, Vladimir Jurowski, and Christian Thielemann.

Hope is among the most recorded classical musicians; he has more than 25 albums, which have been nominated for Grammy and have received many awards, including ECHO-Klassik. His album with Vivaldi's Four Seasons topped the charts in 22 countries and sold over 250,000 copies.

Hope has also written best-selling books. Now based in Berlin, he presents a weekly radio show for the WDR3 Channel and curates and hosts Hope@9pm, a salon-style music and talk event with cultural and political guests at the Berlin Konzerthaus.

Hope plays a Guarnieri del Gesù violion made in 1742.
