Bulgaria and the UK will exchange expertise in the use of high technologies in the educational process, which transpired during a meeting between Deputy Education and Science Minister Natalia Miteva and the UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Early Education Stephen Morgan, the Bulgarian Ministry of Education reported on Thursday. Morgan said that the British education system is strongly focused on the acquisition of knowledge, and discussions are underway on how to focus education more on developing life skills in students.
Miteva presented the Bulgarian Digital Backpack platform, which provides free e-learning content for students, teachers and parents. She introduced Morgan to the latest generation Bulgarian language artificial intelligence model, BgGPT, developed by the INSAIT institute.
The British education system has also shifted its focus to the use of hi-tech in education, and to artificial intelligence in particular. Morgan said that during his visit to various schools in England, he was left with the impression that AI has yielded good results, however, its use needs to be optimal and properly evaluated.
Tihomir Stoytchev, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to the UK, who was also present at the meeting, reported that more than 70 Bulgarian Sunday schools operate in the UK, whose Bulgarian community totals some 400,000 people. More than 2,500 students from the UK have enrolled in Bulgarian universities, mainly in the fields of Medicine and Dentistry.
Morgan invited the Ministry of Education and Science to participate in the Education World Forum 2025, which will take place in London in May. Last year's edition of the event was attended by education ministers and deputy ministers from 122 countries.
