The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Choir debuted with great success at the 72nd edition of the prestigious Ljubljana Festival on Thursday evening. The audience of the Slovenian capital applauded the Bulgarian musicians, led by Maestro Nayden Todorov.  The two-hour programme featured the music of John Williams from iconic films such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Home Alone, Indiana Jones, and others.

The Bulgarian performance took the audience through various emotional states - from the heartbreaking solo of concertmaster Annie Ivanova (Schindler's List) to the epic “Imperial March” from Star Wars - repeated as an encore at the insistence of the audience.

The musicians shared their excitement at taking part in this prestigious forum, which marked the finale of their summer vacation.

From September 1 to 15, the Sofia Philharmonic will be performing a series of concerts in Bucharest with some of the biggest names from the opera scene, including Rolando Villazon, Roberto Alagna, Emily Pogorelc, Piotr Beczala, among others.

The Philharmonic Orchestra opens the music season in Sofia on September 19 with the music of Gautier Capucon, with special guest the world famous Grammy winning violinist Augustin Hadelich.
