Bulgaria's 51st National Assembly elected the leaders and members of standing parliamentary committees on Wednesday.

Petar Kanev from the BSP – United Left coalition has been appointed Chair of the Economic Policy and Innovation Committee. Kanev previously chaired this committee in the 50th National Assembly. His deputies include Aleksandar Ivanov from GERB-UDF, Bogdan Bogdanov from Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), Kliment Shopov from Vazrazhdane, and Krasimir Krasimirov from Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF).

Pavela Mitova from There Is Such a People (TISP) was elected Chair of the Energy Committee. Her deputies will be Krasen Krastev (GERB-UDF), Radoslav Ribarski (CC-DB), Andrey Valchev (BSP – United Left), and Ramadan Atalay (DRF).

Nikolay Nankov (GERB-UDF) was elected Chair of the Regional Policy, Public Works, and Local Self-Government Committee. The deputy chairs are Aleksandar Nenkov (GERB-UDF), Vladimir Georgiev (BSP – United Left), Esheref Esheref (DRF), and Ventsislav Asenov (TISP).

Delyan Dobrev (GERB-UDF) was elected Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee. The Committee’s deputy chairs include Denitsa Nikolova (GERB-UDF), Atanas Atanasov (BSP – United Left), Mehmed Salim (DRF), and Snezhanka Trayanska (TISP).

Anna Aleksandrova (GERB-UDF) was elected Chair of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs. The deputy chairs are Ivan Minev (GERB-UDF), Stoyu Stoev (CC-DB), Aleksandar Rashev (TISP), and Remzi Osman (DRF).

Dimitar Gardev (TISP) was elected Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of European Funds. The deputy chairs are Dafinka Semerdzhieva (GERB-UDF), Kiril Petkov (CC-DB), Dimcho Dimchev (Vazrazhdane), and Dragomir Stoynev (BSP – United Left).

Hristo Gadzhev (GERB-UDF) was elected Chair of the Defence Committee, a position he previously held in the 50th National Assembly. The deputy chairs will be Ivaylo Mirchev (CC-DB), Ivelin Parvanov (Vazrazhdane), Galin Durev (BSP – United Left), and Dzheyhan Ibryamov (DRF).

Manoil Manev from the GERB-UDF parliamentary group was elected Chair of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order. His deputies will be Tsveta Rangelova (Vazrazhdane), Stefan Burdzev (BSP – United Left), Myumyun Myumyun (DRF), and Emil Trifonov (TISP).

The Foreign Policy Committee will be chaired by GERB-UDF floor leader Boyko Borissov. The deputy chairs are Yordanka Fandakova (GERB-UDF), Lena Borislavova (CC-DB), Angel Georgiev (Vazrazhdane), and Radostin Vasilev (Morality, Unity, Honour – MECh).

Sevim Ali (DRF) was elected Chair of the Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Forestry. The deputy chairs include Desislava Taneva (GERB-UDF), Krasimir Yordanov (BSP – United Left), Dragomir Petrov (TISP), and Borislav Petkov (MECh).

Denitsa Sacheva (GERB-UDF) was elected Chair of the Labour and Social Policy Committee. Her deputy chairs include Georgi Georgiev (Vazrazhdane), Nina Dimitrova (BSP – United Left), Vanya Vasileva (DRF), and Tsvetan Predov (TISP).

Hristo Terziyski (GERB-UDF) was elected rotational Chair of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order and the Committee for Control of the Security Services.

Andrey Chorbanov (TISP) will chair the Education and Science Committee. His deputy chairs include Hristina Georgieva (GERB-UDF), Daniel Prodanov (Vazrazhdane), Petya Tsankova (BSP – United Left), and Mario Rangelov (DRF).

Gabriel Valkov from BSP – United Left was elected Chair of the Youth and Sports Committee. His deputies will be Krasen Kralev (GERB-UDF), Kosta Stoyanov (Vazrazhdane), and Ventsislav Petkov (MECh).

Kostadin Angelov (GERB-UDF) was elected Chair of the Health Committee. Luchezar Ivanov (GERB-UDF), Alexander Simidchiev (CC-DB), Margarita Mahaeva (Vazrazhdane), and Ivan Ibrishimov (BSP – United Left) were elected deputies.

Levent Memish (DRF) was elected Chair of the e-Government and Information Technology Committee. Bozhidar Bozhanov (CC-DB), Angel Slavchev (Vazrazhdane), Ivan Petkov (BSP – United Left), and Hristinka Ivanova (TISP) were elected deputies.

Toshko Yordanov (TISP) was elected Chair of the Culture and Media Committee. Toma Bikov (GERB-UDF), Manol Peykov (CC-DB), Angel Yanchev (Vazrazhdane), Mariana Boyadzhieva (BSP – United Left) were elected deputies.

Kiril Dobrev (BSP – United Left) was elected Chair of the Transport and Communications Committee. Andrey Runchev (GERB-UDF), Yordan Ivanov (CC-DB), Nikola Dimitrov (Vazrazhdane), Ivan Kyuchukov (TISP) were elected deputies.

Taner Ali (DRF) was elected Chair of the Committee on Tourism. Luben Dilov (GERB-UDF), Lyudmila Ilieva (CC-DB), Tsoncho Ganev (Vazrazhdane), Desislav Taskov (BSP – United Left) were elected deputies.
