NPO Caritas Bulgaria has started creative workshops in Ruse for children of Ukrainian refugees between the ages of 6 and 10, Kremena Tsaneva from the charity organization said on Wednesday.
She added that the workshops provide an opportunity for children to create and develop their skills and imagination, but also to socialize and make new friendships. Tsaneva noted that the organization's work aims to support the successful social integration of dozens of families who have chosen Ruse as their second home, fleeing the war in Ukraine.
In 2024, the efforts of the organization were mainly aimed at the successful inclusion of Ukrainian refugees in the labor market, including a Bulgarian language course, which has a professional focus and prepares people for jobs in hospitality. Tsaneva emphasized that the Caritas team in Ruse assisted more than 300 Ukrainian refugees with specific consultations in the job search process and orientation in the labor market, with more than 20 people finding work this way.
Caritas Ruse began active work in the first days after the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022. Since then, thousands of Ukrainian citizens living in Ruse, but also families from other settlements in Northern Bulgaria, have received support through humanitarian aid, accommodation, social mediation and activities with children, stressed Tsaneva.
