At the meeting with European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen it was important to confirm the mutual trust between the new Bulgarian government and the new commission, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov told journalists on Wednesday after his meeting in Strasbourg with the EC president.
“We shared all the concerns we have about global challenges and the place of the European Union and dealing with them - challenges related to competitiveness, security, energy security, cohesion policy for the future and targeted investments for better industrialization,” the Prime Minister added.
For Bulgaria the issue of investments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the reforms we need to make, the readiness of the Bulgarian administration and the authorities to make targeted investments and to deal with the payments based on the needs of the industry, as well as overcoming some political challenges, are extremely important, he pointed out.
We will turn to our coalition partners to break down some of the political differences related to the reforms under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Rosen Zhelyazkov added. In his words, this is important because this money is earmarked for Bulgaria and the government needs to do what is necessary to get it
The agenda of talks between the EC president and the Bulgarian Prime Minister were overregulation, too much administration of EU processes and some policies that need revision.
