The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) will unveil a new space for its archives on February 16, when it will celebrate its 127th anniversary, said Tuesday BTA Director General Kiril Valchev during a ceremony where the Sofia City Library presented its tenth annual awards.
The national news agency was awarded a special prize of the decade (2014-2024) for sustainable media partnership. The award was presented to Valchev by Director Yulia Tsinzova.
Also, BTA will unveil an eponymous font on 16 February. “With it, we will try to present everything that comes out of Bulgaria's national news agency into a single vision,” Valchev said.
In his words, after February 16 the font will be free to use by all Bulgarian institutions that "want to represent Bulgaria a Bulgarian font, developed by the National Academy of Arts and based on the tradition of Cyril and Methodius' students."
During the ceremony at the Sofia City Library, Valchev introduced the new director of BTA’s LIK Department Antoaneta Markova. He noted that LIK magazine, whose editor-in-chief is Georgi Lozanov, celebrates its 60th anniversary. Its January issue is dedicated to the magazine itself and will be presented on January 23 at BTA’s Maxim Hall. "We plan to publish an issue this year dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the National Literary Museum (NLM) and the anniversaries of a large group of Bulgarian writers. We will continue to distribute the magazine free of charge to more than 300 libraries in Bulgaria, including the Sofia City Library," the BTA Director General said.
