An interactive spectacle, The Mystery of the Getae, will take place in the Thracian Tomb near the village of Sveshtari on August 24, said the organizers of the Academia Orphica.

The spectacle will immerse the audience in the world of the ancient Getae, as Thracian caryatids come to life with a never before seen re-enactment of the sacred rite, which will take place in the ancient sanctuary.

Because of its unique architecture and decoration, the 3rd-century BC Thracian Tomb is on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List and is among Bulgaria's 100 national tourist sites. The spectacle is organized in partnership with the History Museum of Isperih and is part of the fourth edition of the Thracian Mysteries Festival.

As part of the festival, the opera-drama The Resurrection of Eurydice was performed in the Magura Cave near Belogradchik (Northwestern Bulgaria) on August 17. The festival programme also includes the performance of Kabir Mystery in the Thracian Tomb in Pomorie on August 31.

The final event of the festival, The Thracian Mystery Rites Drama, will be performed at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on September 29. In addition, an exhibition and a festival academy with lectures and workshops dedicated to the life and culture of the ancient Thracians will also take place in Plovdiv on that day.
