The Ikar Performing Arts Awards were presented at an official ceremony at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia on Wednesday evening. The most prestigious performing arts awards in Bulgaria were handed out for the 50th time by the Union of Bulgarian Actors, honouring artists in over 20 categories.

Actor in a Supporting Role: Valcho Yanev (Nevena Kokanova Drama Theatre, Yambol)
Actress in a Supporting Role: Alexandra Vasileva (Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Sofia)
Debut Award: Kaloyan Zhelev (Sava Ognyanov Drama Theatre, Ruse)
Female Dubbing: Militsa Gladnishka
Male Dubbing: Vasil Binev
Play: The Hague (Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Sofia)
Puppet Theatre Play: Lenchen's Secret (Stara Zagora State Pupper Theatre)
Outstanding Results: Stara Zagora State Pupper Theatre
Achievement in Puppet Art: Natalia Gocheva (Ruse State Puppet Theatre)
Outstanding Theatre Management: Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Sofia
Directing: Boyan Kracholov
Dramaturgy: Lilo Petrov
Scenography: Boris Dalchev
Costumes: Kancho Kasabov
Original Music: Milena Apostolova (Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre, Blagoevgrad)
Contemporary Music: Deep Zone Project, "Punta Cana"
Critical Text: Bulgarian Theatre 1945-1989 (collection of papers by a team of eight authors)
Contemporary Dance and Performance: Galina Borisova in partnership with Teodora Popova (Toplocentrala Art Centre)
Masterly Technical Performance: Metamorphoses (Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre, Blagoevgrad)
Circus Art: Balkanski Trio
Variete Art: Valeri Motsev and Svetlana Stefanova (Valermo)
Attraction and Stage Art: Palyachi troupe
Along with the regular Ikar nominations, several special awards were presented. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilyana Tomova from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia received an award for achievements in teaching, stage designer Vecheslav Parapanov received an award for honour and dignity, actress Maria Kavardzhikova was awarded for her outstanding contribution to Bulgarian theatre, and Prof Vasil Rokomanov was awarded for his outstanding contribution to the development of Bulgarian puppet art.
Outgoing Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel, outgoing Culture Minister Krastyu Krastev and Vice President Iliana Iotova were among the guests of the event.
The event is part of the XIX edition of the Sofia Theatre Salon. BTA is media partner of the event.
