The 2023 Rozhen National Folklore Fair will begin Friday at 11 am with a parade of hundreds of bagpipers at the Rozhen meadows in the Rhodopes, the Heritage in the Future Foundation, organizer of the forum, said.
The festival includes the Rozhen National Folklore Competition with the participation of nearly 7,000 performers from all folklore regions of the country, ensembles of Bessarabian Bulgarians from Ukraine and individual performers from the Bulgarian diaspora. Historical and ethnic reenactments, a museum exposition "The Spirit of the Rhodopes", exhibitions of traditional crafts, farm products and purebred animals, a contest for authentic Bulgarian costumes are included in the program of the 2023 festival edition, which also marks 125 years since the first Rozhen fair was held.
