The Council of Ministers approved the allocation of USD 15,000 for the update of the United Nations Digital Handbook "Assembly for Peace," the Government Information Service reported Monday. "Assembly for Peace" was created in accordance with Resolution A/RES/77/335 for revitalizing the work of the UN General Assembly (GA) and reflects the efforts of a group of countries to strengthen the role of the GA in international peace and security, as well as to enhance transparency and accountability in the work of the UN Security Council (SC).

The initiative is part of a process to improve interaction between the GA and SC on international peace and security issues, which started in 2005 and received consensus support with the adoption of resolution A/RES/76/262, which Bulgaria co-authored and actively supports.

The financing of the digital handbook by Bulgaria will have a positive effect on the country's image as a state that actively and consistently supports initiatives to empower the UN General Assembly and reform the Organization to improve its effectiveness and transparency in its work, the press release further reads.
