“The samples that were taken on November 27 came out this afternoon. We took over 300 samples, and they are 100% positive,” said by Agriculture Minister Georgi Tahov after Friday's meeting of the Central Epizootic Council, commenting on the detected goat plague in in a farm in Velingrad.
"We have no doubt in the first or second samples," Tahov said.
He added that he had been authorized by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and the Central Epizootic Council to hold talks with the farm owners in Velingrad. "The regulations are clear, the animals must be culled to curb the outbreak. If we don't do that, Bulgaria will automatically be banned from exporting sheep, goat and respective throughout the European Union," Tahov said.
